Week One Update
Every day this week saw noticeable progress on the building at the church plant project. Two great friends from our mother church in Waynesville spent Wednesday through Saturday working, eating, and sleeping in the church despite the raging snow storm that buried the area. After many man-hours, the floor plan, HVAC, and much of the electrical system has been charted, and the inventory and general cleanup is nearly completed. Sadly, I had to make the call to cancel this weekend’s services (only our second one on the job), but the decision was confirmed after Laura and I slid off the road despite our four wheel drive while trying to stop for a tractor who was stuck sideways in the road. Thankfully, no harm was done, and we made it home to spend some family time in the snow. Pray for next week as I prepare to preach from Isaiah 9:4-7. From the beginning of the project, everyone has known that big change is coming, and I pray that it will be received with excitement. I have been overwhelmed by those who share our passion for God’s mission here! We are looking forward to a new name (coming soon) and new year of changing our community for Christ!
